Display for 20' viewing distance?
What about a 61" DLP RPTV? The Samsung HLN617W is an awesome experience, and
for analog broadcasts, I think it looks better than any plasma I've seen. Also suggest the 50" version. Doug -- Why watch it when you can Replay it? From his bed to the opposite wall where he wants to put the display is 20 feet. Previously he only considered a CRT RPTV since it's basically the only thing big enough for that viewing distance. Now he wants to get a flat display that he can either mount or put against the wall. His price is $5000-$7000. For that range I guess I can recommend a 50" plasma or LCD. (42" will just be too small probably). [I told him to consider putting a 42" plasma on a stand at the foot of his king size bed and run the cables and wires underneath the bed, but he thinks it'll be ugly. He wants to put it at the opposite wall, which will be quite far away.] There's front projector, of course, but I don't think he will want a FP since he just wants to lie in bed and watch some TV to unwind, not make a big production every time he wants to watch something. Anyone has experience with a room this size? What's the best 50" plasma or LCD for that price range? Should he buy now or wait a bit more to see what's coming down the pipe? I know these displays still have some problems that need to be worked out. thanks |
Your friend needs to think outside the square. I have two big HDTVs. I also
have a small 15 inch plasma that sits 4 feet from my face and is so light and small I can move it anywhere. It's my favorite set. Unless your friend has 30 people in his bed I'd suggest not putting a set on the distant wall. Put something at the foot of the bed. It will also help the sound, the controls, the ease of installation and access to the cables. I watch movies and Junk Yard Wars.. ha-ha... in my family room.. big TV there. I watch the late news and a little of Jay Leno in bed... What does your friend watch from his/her bed? JB "darius" wrote in message ... What's he doing there??? ;-) |
