Daewoo DS608P Freeview box
How do we get the 7 day epg on this, please?
|
Ah ...... !
Well, we were promised one, and the new software was indeed broadcast, and "dummy" epg data is downloaded each night 3 am ..... But, then the Daewoo company suddenly "collapsed" (use Google for more details), so whether the epg will now ever be activated is unknown, but it doesn't look like it! |

I got a DS608P (cheap) a few weeks ago - usually works okay but have had to use the reset button three or four times when it locked up, then once had to disconnect power to un-freeze it. Switching channel to Sky Travel was a factor most times, coincidence? Software is Build_0136 dated Jun 15 2004 - I guess it's been in stock a while! |

The latest software is Build_0157 which mine has, I get about 1 or 2 lock ups per year, no more than that. SetPal seem to have disappeared from the Net, and software downloads are supposed to be handled by Ovus, but I won't hold my breath for any more downloads. Regards Mike. |
regarding DS608P software, the latest "build" does seem to lock up more
frequently than previous ones, I've noticed. Without the epg "active", there's little point in having the latest build, which particularly seems to slow the MHEG response, so you're probably better off with a slightly earlier version. (The Daewoo actually has a transputer inside, which originally made it very fast, but the latest software rewrites seem rather clumsy!). |

That version was never broadcast (or if it was, my box missed it). My downloads jumped from Build_0126 dated Mar 03 2004 to Build_0149 Oct 05 2004. All the versions until the last (Build_0157 dated Apr 15 2005) have been quite stable for me. Fortunately I was able to revert to Build_0156. Thanks for the info. I assume there won't be any more updates, but how did you manage to revert to an earlier version? |

Status then Select - Text - Text - Select this brings up the Engineering Menu Then press the Right Arrow button 3 times to get to the screen and press key 5 to revert to previous Flash Software. You can press the Cancel button to get out of the Engineering screens at any time. NOTE however that this is NOT reversible, once you've gone back to the previous software the only way back to the latest verion is via another Over The Air Download which will probably never happen, unfortunately. Regards Mike. |

That wasn't the electronics bit which is still going strong. -- ThePunisher Latitude: 54.67N Longitude: 5.96W |

Regarding swapping between software versions, I beleive that if the bootloader bit is older than a certain build, then you can't swap back, hence the warning! |
