They've been showing previews and it looks like the real bad American
sitcoms - it's probably geared more for Americans living abroad

That I do watch. It is not dross though it isn't the best UK comedy
either.

Some UK programming is indeed quite dire and you gave some examples.
However nearly all US programming is dire. This is the big difference.
