noisy sky+ box

I had Sky+ installed yesterday and was wondering if the boxes are
supposed to click constantly ? Its driving me mad, Surely it cant be
right ? It sounds like the HD spinning and clicking ? Does anyone think
I have a faulty box/HD ? It makes the noise constantly even when not
recording.
TIA

Sounds like a faulty HD.

Or possibly a fan, but that probably wouldn't be a clicking noise.

Second that. Sounds like a duff HD. I wonder if the Sky+ box is a
reconditioned one.

Thanks for the replies, I will have to contact sky I guess and see what
they say.
It looks like a brand new one and was all sealed up in the cardboard box ?
cheers anyway

Sounds like the new amstrad v3 box, mine clicks too.

If you can - demand a Pace box, but good luck. Ive given up trying... and
will stick with my noisy v3 for now...

Now that would really be progress.

I dunno about progress, mine's well noisey. Amstrad should use those quiet
samsungs that everybody uses for unofficial upgrades ;-)

I gave up using Seagates a couple of years ago after having 3 drives fail
within 6 months of use and the recon drive they replaced them with under the
warranty didn't last much longer either.

Never had any problems with Maxtor drives.

There is an exception to every rule, and it seems that you are it!
