just starting out - dvd recorders - a couple of questions
Hello
I'm really in the dark about best options because I don't really know what's possible. 1 If I get a good dvd recorder with a hard drive is it possible to record a tv program directly on to a dvd without having to record to hard drive first and then transfer to dvd. 2 If I buy a set-top-box to give me Freeview channels and I buy a good dvd recorder (with hard drive) I assume the connection from one to the other is by SCART lead and there is a SCART connection to the TV from the dvd box. Now, I also recieve digital channels (movies and sport) via a cable (NTL) set up (a PACE box with modem for broadband). Will I be able to record these channels on the DVD recorder - hard drive and DVD? What would be the arrangement of the connections and would I be able to watch one channel whilst recording another? Presumably I will be able to watch Freeview and the cable movie channels even if the dvd recorder is switched off via some form of throughput? 3 Which is preferable - a set-top-box for Freeview plus a dvd recorder with hard drive OR a Freeview box with hard drive (e.g. Humax) and a separate dvd recorder? The combinations seem inexhaustible and I am not sure where else to go to ask these questions. Thank you marty |

(Actually, I'm not sure how many DTT HD boxes allow you to transfer files to a computer - the Toppy does). However, if you want a simple button-pushing operation, then you can ignore this one! Thank you marty If I had the money and could receive Freeview, I'd go for the Panasonic DMREH60D http://www.panasonic.co.uk/dvd-recor...h60d/index.htm -- Adrian A |

. co.uk.invalid, Alan Pemberton writes I can't remember my Panny DVR ever crashing on me or failing to function correctly Just lately mine has been crashing on the first copy from HDD to DVD or first write of title to DVD but works OK on the second attempt. I tried switching the order of writing programme and title but no difference however in the last few days it seems to have rectified itself. It must have known I was thinking about changing it ;) -- Peter Pratten Please reply in group only |
