Mitsubishi HDTV Help
I have a 5 year old Mits HD model number WS55807. Recently I have had
some reception problems and had them fixed. Now when I change the input to show 1080i, I get what looks like a horizontal hold problem. When I look in setup I am only able to show RGB, I can't get the YPrPb to show. I have had a local TV repair guy try to attemp but no idea as of yet. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this. I have tried numerous wiring combination to no avail. |
I presume you are using an external HD tuner or cable box? if so then when switching modes, from HD to lower resolution, you may see loss of sync while the set catches up to the supplied signal's sync, etc. Also the aspect may vary depending on the supplied material from the external source. Be more specific and someone might be able to help. What kind of reception problems and what was done to fix? How does that relate to this problem? What source are you using? Setup menu in what device, the TV? Does the set give a display that indicates it is in 1080i mode? Leonard |
I am using Charters Cable box. The service tech did a "Complete Repair
and Rebuilt Dynamic Circuit". The reason he did this was to repair green tinting on the left and right side of the screen. The setup menu was on the TV. In HD Mode I am not able to set to YPrPb only RGB. On the screen it does show 1080i Standard. The only way I can describe the reception problem is "horizontal hold" of much older TV's. Thanks in advance Jim |

Thanks in advance Jim What do you mean by the statement "In HD Mode I am not able to set to YPrPb only RGB?" It sounds like your cable box is set to something other than 1080i. The tech who repaired the set may have set the option menu to force the DTV input to 1080i to adjust the convergence and did not set it back to auto. Press MENU then the sequence 8,7,2,0. Set the DTV port to auto, hit menu to exit. Leonard |
On the TV, when I set the input to 1080i and try and set the DTV to
YPrPb my only option is off or RGB, yet when I set the input to Cable I can set the DTV to YPrPb. The cable box was not touched, do you mean the TV is set to something other than 1080i? I have contacted a Mits Certified repair and they want to charge $70 for the house call. I don't mind the cost, but after awhile this might become a big whole to poor money into. So far I am in for $500.00, small price against a new TV. I just can't help but believe its something very simple. Thanks Jim |
Leonard, thanks for the input. I was able to perform the above,
although the sequence was 8,2,7,0. It was set to 1080i. It fixed the Horizontal hold problem. Now I can't get any audio or video when changing the input to HD and going to the HD channels. Everthing else is working fine. Thanks in advance, Jim |
Nothing happens when I hit 8,7,2,0
Thanks |

Sometimes the microprocessor register gets trashed and it doesn't know how to talk to the other serial controlled chips in the set. The (SONY) chip that switches inputs is one of those that I've seen have problems. |

OK if you got the H correct, your STB is set to output something other than 1080i and you need to know what it is. What do you mean by "changing the input to HD and going to HD channels?" Do you mean changing the input to DTV? How do you know that your H problem is fixed if you have no video? You need to describe your setup carefully and use the correct terms for each device.
