PVR PC packages

Hi folks,
What do people think about the various PC PVR packages that are knocking
about, as in Showshifter etc?

Any recommendations?

Cheers,

Rob.

One vote against Showshifter for disabling sound on my analogue TV card
when tried out - years ago but still rankles.

I suspect there isn't anything for non-expert use as good as
Microsoft's Media Center or whatever it's called. If that sounds
damning...

I also haven't gained unalloyed pleasure from the software for two USB
Freeview interfaces, Hauppauge DEC-2000T and Twinhan VisionDTV USB-Ter.
The Twinhan has a lot of odd bugs, and the Hauppauge runs in set-top
or PC mode and loses points with me by allowing recording only by
relaunching the application and then rebooting the USB device.

Both also suffer hiccups, and recordings are difficult to play outside
the proprietary software, and often in it, too - particularly radio,
which seems to confuse them all.

And I'm on my second Hauppauge under guarantee and I think the second
Twinhan may have just died, so what's good? Doesn't have to be USB.
