yes and my dab is in the drawer of my desk just another dust gatherer but my 10 year old sony walkman is in use every day in work fm rules dab sucks So you don't agree with the DAB advert on commercial radio that suggests that analogue radios are worth less than an out of date half-eaten jar of pickles then? ;-) It beggars belief what the liars in the DAB industry will come out with in order to deceive the general public... -- Steve - www.digitalradiotech.co.uk - Digital Radio News & Info Find the cheapest Freeview, DAB & MP3 Player Prices: http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/fr..._receivers.htm http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/da...tal_radios.htm http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/mp...rs_1GB-5GB.htm http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/mp...e_capacity.htm |

DAB sounds worse than FM wrote: Simply put, DAB does sound significantly worse than FM, so if you're happy with the stations that you listen to at the moment then there's no point in getting DAB. Also, the audio quality of the radio stations on the digital TV platforms are also higher than they are on DAB because the bit rates they use are higher, and it's the bit rate that is the main determinant of audio quality. So, as you're on a digital TV newsgroup I assume you've got digital TV of one variety or another, so you'd be better off connecting the output of a digital TV set-top box to your hi-fi system, because that'll sound better than DAB. To see what's available on the digital TV platforms see he http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/in...bit_rate_table Digital satellite is the best digital TV platform both in terms of audio quality and choice of stations. I do listen to radio via Freeview and Sky as the FM reception is poor here since my big FM aerial fell off the roof. Its not very convenient though in the bathroom, although there are spare cables under the bath that I could wire a speaker to; which could also be used as a tannoy for bathroom hoggers :-) To be perfectly honest, I don't think the audio quality on small portable radios is important, so if your FM reception is poor in the bathroom then you might as well buy yourself a DAB portable. My objection to DAB is that the audio quality isn't good enough for listening on a hi-fi or on a car stereo. -- Steve - www.digitalradiotech.co.uk - Digital Radio News & Info Find the cheapest Freeview, DAB & MP3 Player Prices: http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/fr..._receivers.htm http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/da...tal_radios.htm http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/mp...rs_1GB-5GB.htm http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/mp...e_capacity.htm |

My main so called obsolite FM radio is built into a 6 months old Midi system, my other FM radio is a clock radio I use in bed and the other one I got is in the kitchen. All three of them are better than any DAB system I don't see the point in donating my obsolete radio to Africa. It's quite unlikely it would reach there with all the valves unsmashed. Owain |
