Norwegian TV in Angus

Hi there,

Could someone let me know what would be required in order to watch Norwegian
TV programs in Arbroath?

I have no idea if I should get, and any salesman will smell a mile off that
I am a very uninformed customer.

At the moment we only have a normal TV and get 4 channels, channel five is
unavailable from our house.

We do have a broadband connection from BT if that's another possibility.

Regards and thanks in advance.

Alan

Give "Aerial Techniques" a call: 01202 738232

Not sure what they are like now, but they used to offer free advice on
what equipment would be needed to receive TV from abroad via an
aerial.

Unfortunately, they don't seem to have a website.

An understanding of Norwegian and a capacity for tedium, based on my
experience of Norwegian TV :-)

A *non* $ky (generic) satellite dish and STB.
Search http://www.lyngsat.com/ for which satellite has what
http://www.lyngsat.com/freetv/Norway...d6071dd3 0ab4
There may well be some pay channels

Blimey!, Is it possible to receive that over those sort of distances?.

Wouldn't you be better off with a satellite system?....

Reading between the lines, perhaps what you want is more channels without
subscribing to $ky.
Can you get freeview? Ask your neighbours.
Otherwise there is freesatfrom$ky which only costs GBP20 see sig.

Be warned that the there are a lot of garbage channels to be had.

Dave Fawthrop dave hyphenologist co uk Sat ITV, Ch4, Ch5, only GBP20

What will I receive "£20 ... one Viewing Card". You will also need
$ky box and dish. List of Channels at http://www.wickonline.com/fta.htm

Is this a post to test the very limits of knowledge on usenet?

There appears to be something like Sky Digital called "Canal Digital" see
http://www.canaldigital.no/templates...t____4142.aspx
The relevant satellite appears to be "Thor 2/3 at 1.0°W" see
http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/canaldigital.html also
http://www.lyngsat.com/1west.html
There's a channel called "NRK 1 Tegnspråk" which is listed as free to air,
but everything else is part of the Canal Digital package and encrypted,
including NRK 1 and 2, so you'd have to try getting a friend in Norway to
subscribe on your behalf and send you their card etc., unless they have a
"free to view" card option for public service channels as we have had in the
UK.

Marco Polo, the old BSB satellite was moved to1.0°W and renamed Thor
after it was sold by BSkyB.
