Goodmans GDB3 and Sky Text (no longer accessible)

My Goodmans GDB3 software was upgraded to v4.2 via an OAD last month.
Previously the version was something earlier than 3.11.

I have just noticed that since the upgrade it is no longer possible to get
Sky Text. I have tried power-cycling the GDB3 - no change.

Sky Text is normally accessible from the three Freeview Sky channels.
There is no difficulty accessing this service on a Pace DTVA or a Setpal
box.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I've never had Sky Text from freeview. I have a GDB3 as well. Pressing the
text button on the Sky channels used to do nothing as far as I can remember.

Just checked it and you're right. I don't recall having tried accessing
SkyText since upgrading from 4.1 to 4.2.

My GDB3 was also updated to ver4.2 (from 3.12) during the OAD last month. I
*do* have use of Sky text, however....I seem to have to press text twice,
and it takes a good bit longer to load than it seemed to do with the last
version software.

However, I have many more little niggles and quirks with this software
update that are worse. Like the missing information from certain/random
channels when it's in now&next EPG mode, and sometimes in the 7 day EPG mode
too. I also experience the occasional black screen after a menu/information
has been called to the screen and then it disappears again (as the
information/menu disappears, so does the picture) - leaving one to have to
tune out and then in again to correct it.

Sky Text is accessible again this morning.
I've done nothing to the stb since my post yesterday.

Checked again this morning and Skytext works.

I missed the update. How and when could I catch up?

Thanks

You could keep looking he
http://www.dtg.org.uk/retailer/download_schedule.pl for the next OAD.

There is a way of downloading it (any time) from a website and uploading it
to your box via a serial lead, but I don't have the details.

Thanks

That website is updated weekly and gives the OAD schedule for "This week"
and Next week".

OADs from any particular supplier come at irregular intervals measured in
months.

It is possible to upate a GDB3 (and other listed Goodmans models) via the
internet and a PC.
