OT Direct TV pushing thru ads
I know this is OT by I don't know where else to start this inquiry.
I have a Direct TV TiVo and six other receivers. Two of the receivers are older style Hughes. One of those is HD. I have 4 newer style receivers that are about a month old now. The problem is that when I set the favorites list on the newer receivers, DTv adds their advertising channels to those lists about every couple of days. They apparently can't do it to the Hughes receivers for some reason... they remain unaffected. This is getting F#$%ing annoying. I can't keep my favorites lists as I set them no matter what I do. They only add DTV, pay sports channels (they don't work.. they are just there) and other things like their satellite launch. Nothing but channels related to what DTV wants you to purchase or watch. I have called Direct and they are clueless... so they say. Any ideas on how to stop this practice other then tell them to shove the whole thing and go to cable??? Oh yeah.. it doesn't seem to effect the TiVo.. at least I don't think it does.. I never really use the TiVo guide.. too slow. |

Also, he should set Guide Options so he's using Favorite Channels instead of Channels You Receive. DTV doesn't add channels to Favorites (at least, not on my SAT-T60s; I'm not sure what the OP's deal is). |
If the OP was saying these newer boxes are non Tivo boxes but just regular
Directv boxes, there is no "Channels I Receive list". They only have "Favorite Lists". That is one thing I miss since going to Tivo, having multiple favorite lists instead of only one. In that case, you wouldn't need any favorite lists since you would just watch stuff from the 'Now Showing' menu. Just one more way TiVo tries to guide you to their type of thinking. |

That is why this is sort of off topic. I posted here because many of you that have Direct Tivo have other receivers... which leads me to believe that others with newer receivers, D100 style, are having the same problem with Direct that I am having...and I just don't know where else to go for info from users. Arcade Master was correct, there is no "Channels I Receive List" but rather only "Favorite Lists" on the newer boxes. DTV says that they can't put channels in the favorites list.. at least everyone that I talked to with one exception.. a senior tech. He told me that the only way that will change is if enough people complain. If this is happening to you.. please complain! They did comp me 6 month of HBO for the hassle, but I said I would rather have the problem go away. Anyway, since posting here I called DTV yet again and while talking to the cancellation dept. they decided to send me new receivers that are not the D100 style. I hope that works. I will post the results when they show up and I have had time to be sure one way or the other. Thanks all that took time to respond.. please continue if you have a solution or the same problem. Pretty much yes.. they just come back when DTV wants them to come back.. and
it is only their channels... The ones they use to advertise such as the DTV channel and many of the sports channels that they want you to buy.. They show up in the favorites as channels but you still don't get the programming.. not that I would want it anyway.. but they are trying to get you to buy those channels or events.. It only seems to happen on the D100 receivers. "Art Matz" wrote in message ... There was one way channels would pop on my favorites. If I would do the "Add all channels", then proceed to uncheck all the channels that I didn't want, any new channels later would be added. But, if I would "Delete all channels", then check only the channels I wanted, then my list would not change if Directv added any new channels. But, it sounds like you're saying they add existing channels to your favorites, you remove them and later they pop back up into your favorites. That situation I've never had.
