No software update on my Sky+ box :-(

Anyone else with Sky+ (original Pace box) not had the update yet?

I've done a reboot etc but still not had it.

Yes, I've not had it yet. I don't think any version of Sky+ (nor many
standard Sky boxes) have had the upgrade yet ? My Oct 98 Pace was
upgraded a week ago.

||
|| As far as I know, NO-ONE with Sky+ has it yet. Your post is about a
|| month early! Sky+ digiboxes normally get software months after the
|| normal digiboxes, and only a few digiboxes so far have it. We're right
|| at the *start* of the upgrade rollout.
||
|| I'd be amazed if all the normal digiboxes are upgraded during April and
|| Sky were ready to start the Sky+ rollout much before mid-May. Sky's
|| press release said "by the summer".

Why do people get all stressed out about a s/w upgrade? When it comes, it
will come. Don't worry about it. Oh and trying to force update it won't
work, in fact, oyu could screw your box up doing that.

Because they're fed up with the ****ing red dot, I should imagine.

It keeps coming back IGNORING what the customer just asked for.

No means no, not Yes 10 minutes later.

Heracles Pollux April 18th 05 01:01 AM

my understanding is that the new upgrade won't make it go away
forever, it will just make it go away after 30 seconds. it won't stop
it from coming back again after that. so if a broadcaster really
wanted to wreck your tv recordings they could just have it come back
every 30 seconds?

Because then some lawyer could prosecute them under the Computer Misuse Act
1990 Section using the anti-spam precedent set by Microsoft and others.

If someone could also demonstrate that this "red dot" was causing offence
and annoyance, then the Communications Act 2003 annoyance, offence, and
"distressing" electronic communications clause also comes into play.

If such a case ever went public, and set a precedent, then the whole game
would be up for so-called "inter-active television enhancements".
