If you pull the card out you will see.
Plus you will probably get ITV1, Ch4 and Five with the card when you stop
paying.

My old sky box (car-boot) and expired card (previous type, not a yellow
house...) used to give me the correct bbc region on 101 (southern). It seems
to have reverted to London now though. Can I justify £20 for a freesatfromsky
card, just to get southern back on 101 and to get channel 5...

None at all!
Well I use a Sky box with no card and get lots and lots of TV and Radio
stations.

You get all the BBC channels without the card because they are not
encrypted.

I've got one without a card (a newish white Pace box). When it is
first turned on, and for the next couple of days, it accesses the FTA
ones fine, but then over a period of days it "loses" the channels.

Does this sound normal? Its only a box loaned from a friend who now
has Sky+, so I'm not that bothered (I just have it there because I
can!)

Sorry can't explain, I have a Pace and 2 different models of Panasonic
without cards all 3 working well.

I think the channel on 428 TWC Reloaded as changed to a Film channel
in the 300 but other than that should be up to date

goto channel 101, pull the card out, scroll up from Ch 101 to Ch 999 and you
will see what you will get. Then, add ITV1, ITV2, Ch4 & Ch5 (whitch your
current card will un-encrytpt), and that is what you will get!

but it could be pulled at anytime, even with the so called Freesat card,
Sky only gives two years viewing of ITv, ch5 and 4, after that, sky
could stop your card from decoding those channels.
It is about time, that was stopped.

It's not 'their' satellite, it's SES-astra's. They only lease space.
Have a look at www.lyngsat.com or www.kingofsat.net to see what's free.
