Anyone get their DTT from the Angus transmitter?
We do.
And using a Nebula PCI freeview card and the existing aerial (that's probably been in the house for eons) we've had a perfect signal since DTT started in the region. But since Christmas, the signal quality seems to change on a daily basis - mainly affecting ITV/C4/ITV2/ITV3 - sometimes they're watchable, sometimes there's really bad picture breakup, other times there's no signal at all. Today and yesterday have been particularly bad - the only watchable channels are currently BBC1, 2, BBC News and the two music channels. So is anyone else seeing this, or is it likely to be some probably with a) the PC, b) our aerial or c) the transmitter. Thanks Iain |

You say "in the house". Does that mean a loft/internal antenna? If so, you may get better results with an external antenna. The signal levels will vary with the weather, etc. If the signals are strong enough you won't notice any effects. But if the signals are weak then the reception will be affected. FWIW We have received DTTV from both Angus (27 km away) and Durris. The Angus signals are stronger, but we also get problems occasionally. Particularly during the mid-evening after sunset. We are using a loft antenna with a low noise preamp (Maplin). When we used Durris weather and time of day effects were common, but they've been much rarer since changing to Angus. Although I've noticed a couple of short (30 sec or less) and complete signal dropouts in recent weeks, so someone may have been twiddling with the TX system somewhere. You may need a better antenna. Afraid I don't know anything about the Nebula card. If it doesn't have a high sensitivity and low noise you *might* find that a low-noise preamp might help, but treat this as a second best to a better antenna/feed. However, there *are* new houses being built between us and the transmitter's location, and they have been creeping steadly closer for the last couple of months (and they're villas and we're just in a bungalow) so maybe they're to blame. Perhaps it is time for a proper outdoors aerial. All the channels seem to be back again today...only the BBC ones listed above were on last night. It just seems to vary all the time. Sigh. Iain |
