Captured MPEG to DVD?
So what do people use?
I have a new DTV PCI card, and can capture movies etc to disk. I also have a DVD writer. So what is the best way to get the movies onto DVD? I have downloaded a trial of 'Cucusoft AVI to VCD/DVD MPEG convertor', which works ok but is so slow. Not even realtime using my 3Gig P4. The you have to run 'MPEG to DVD Author'. And what about editing out adverts? I've also tried MS Movie Maker, but that crashes after a while. Then there's DVD Santa. Doesn't crash, but just seems to stall in the middle of a big file. I'll try all of these on my work's PCs to see if there is an inherrent problem with my own. |

Sounds like it's doing some decoding & recoding. That just isn't necessary with a digital tv card. There is a guide at www.doom9.org for DVB to DVD-R conversion which are quite quick and keeps the quality and video just as good as the dvb. Editing is also in there. -- reply to chipsugar at chipsugarremove this. plus.com not the spamtrap |

I've had a quick look at this site. My captured mpeg is in a single file (video and audio), but the tools that I've tried from doom9 (DVDPatcher and IfoEdit) seem to expect separate files for each. |

You need to demux (demultiplex) them into video and audio files using PVAstrumento or Project9. I use PVAstrumento: http://www.offeryn.de/dv.htm BTW, if you've got broadband, download a full demo version of Nero 6: http://www.ahead.de/en/nero-prog.php If you can get a Nero OEM CD, which are cheap if you look around, then if you like Nero you can purchase the downloadable serial number from: https://secure.nero.com/en/secure.asp for $40 (~£25). You can burn DVDs that are playable on normal DVD players or compress video files to store more on each DVD disc. I do the latter, and all you need to do is click "make ps" in PVAstrumento (without demuxing) then compress using the newest video codec, AVC, using a bit rate of about 1.2 Mbps (which compresses the file size to between 1/2 and 1/4 of the original size) and the quality is virtually indistringuishable from the original. -- Steve - www.digitalradiotech.co.uk - Digital Radio News & Info Find the cheapest Freeview, DAB & MP3 Player Prices: http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/fr..._receivers.htm http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/da...tal_radios.htm http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/mp...rs_1GB-5GB.htm http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/mp...e_capacity.htm |

If you want ease-of-use then buy Nero 6. Use Nero Vision express to make your own DVDs and edit video however you like. All in one program. And it will work with your single mpeg file. |
