No existing customer has ever had sky+ for £99
 

That is what Sky said when I called them today.

The person sitting opposite me got Sky+ for £99, but apparently he is a
liar.

Oh well. My cancelleation stands then.

"certain" people I know got Sky+ using a offer code that were
supposedly only for Sky staff early last year =:-)

It is. When I first spoke to them a couple of weeks ago, the "manager" on
the phone said that there was absolutely no way anyone could get it for £99.
I told him to check my account then in a few months once I had spoken to
someone with authority. Bet he won't though :)
