no wonder ebay has a poor reputation in some areas

Why don't they pull auctions like this?

"For a bargain of £4.99 you will receive simple step-by-step instructions on
how to get FREE Sky PPV channels, and never have to pay again."

It's not as if ebay can say well there's so many auctions some are bound to
slip by unnoticed, this one is a "Featured Item", and is just one click away
from the ebay uk home page!

Why doesn't Sky do anything about it?

Quite true, At least with E-Bay you think they'd act on it being a Scam (or
if not theft) It's much the same with sellers flogging off Cable
STB's...Quite blatant theft as the box always remains the property of
NTL/Telewest whoever

I've reported a few such *Sky PPV for free* on Ebay and got the usual *Your
report has been received but we cannot tell you what action will be taken
(if any)..Looking at the same auctions,They have remained.

So evidently Ebay don't mind getting cash from listings fees etc from
illegal items!

Ebay don't give a hoot about anything other than collecting
commissions. They have little regard for vendors and none whatsoever
for buyers. They have no notion of customer service.

Ebay are one of the world's least responsible companies.

It bothers me greatly that within a few years transactions on Ebay are
likely to make up a fairly large proportion of all UK transactions.
Legislation must be introduced NOW to ensure that transactions on
Ebay are compliant with UK consumer law and that Ebay should
themselves guarantee all payments and transactions. They can put some
of their obscenely high profits towards paying for insurance that
actually works.

PayPal also must be brought into line with other financial payment
services as soon as possible.

This legislation is already years overdue.

But sell a Gameboy Advance game and it's pulled right away.

Or...

Ebay have so many auctions at one time that it is impossible for them to
keep "on top" of every single illegal auction.

Ebay have taken action with some blatant false descriptions.
I won't be too hard on Ebay as I've bought some old telephones on Ebay
which are great and I would never have got them at that price anywhere
else.
Regards Mike.

True, but you would think they ought to notice illegal auctions that are
"featured auctions" on their home page as this was at the time of
posting!!!!

I buy and sell lots of stuff too. I love ebay.
But that makes me even more annoyed that they let their reputation be
tarnished like this.
