Comcast (Motorola DCT6412) Retrieving Programs

Is there a way to retrieve the recorded programs off the Motorola
DCT6412 and copy them to my computer? I'm 85% full and I don't want
to delete anything until I've saved it... Can I use the firewire, or
usb ports, or is there a site out there than can show me about taking
out the harddrive and retrieving the files directly from my pc?

I am guessing Firewire would be the best route, since that transmits both video
and audio.

I plan on doing that myself someday, when I get a Firewire cable, and move
either the cable box or my TV to get them close enough to make the connection.
