Alba STBX3 Freeview
Just got an Alba STBX3 from Argos, and it doesn't seem able to switch
from widescreen (ie bbcnews 24) to 4:3 (sky news) I've tried it on every setting from auto, pan and scan whatever, on 3 different tv's and either one is stretched or the other one squished. I can change the aspect ratio if I go to the settings menu, but that is a real pain every time I change channels. So, is this a fault with the box, or are they all like that? I plan to take it back to Argos, but would like some back up info about the subject. Thanks -- sheila t take out rubbish before replying |

If so is there a menu option on the digibox which asks you to set it to normal 4x3 Tv set Or widescreen 16x9 TV set? This needs to be w/s Tv set. -- Regards, David Please reply to News Group. |

The TV's are 4:3, I've tried setting at both 4:3 and 16:9, and all show the same effect, ie, the setting is OK for the one channel, but not the other. This is using the scart that came with the box, and other scart leads. It seems to not recognise when w/s is being transmitted and cannot switch, so the image is stretched on one setting, or squashed on the other. Is this normal? Thanks. -- sheila t take out rubbish before replying |

When I flip through the first 3, the picture size changes, but auto has no effect, whether I'm on a w/s channel, or 4:3. Thanks for your help. -- sheila t take out rubbish before replying |
"theoule" wrote in message ... Full Frame, Pan & Scan, Letterbox or Auto. That's good. Set to either Full Frame, or Letterbox. For a normal 4x3 programme I would expect that to fill your TV screen in both cases. Now if you choose Full Frame when I would expect a w/s programme to fill the 4x3 Tv but have the left and right edges of the picture cropped off. Chooseing Letterbox when a w/s programme on will give the whole w/s picture with blank bans top and bottom. In all these cases geometry should be correct, ie no fat or thin people. If this is not the case I think you have a bad design of digibox or a faulty one. -- Regards, David Please reply to News Group. |
