No broadcast signal is really digital. That said the digital data that
is in the broadcast Sky signal is very robust. As long as about 40% of
it gets through intact you will have a perfect picture. The trouble
starts when less than 40% of it is getting through.

I acquired a digibox ( sony) and did a DIY install of the cable to the

snip

I've got a Sony 750 - Similar probs twice - Engineers have taken the box
away and replaced parts.

One thing which seeme to cure it was to turn off the LNB voltage (In the
installers menu - see below) , turn off the box, unscrew the coax cable -
and do the same in
reverse (as instructed by sky customer services).

Need to get into the installer menu ? : Services - 4 - 0 - 1 - select.

Look for Sony Box problems in the google archive - seems a few similar
stories

I had a few channels with NO SIGNAL once. The engineers took the box away
twice and checked it. Changed the LNB. Would you believe it was the cable in
the end! Why some channels were OK and others not, I'll never know.

The box was a Panasonic TU-DSB30.

Fred.

It's very simple. Channels are on different frequencies. Signal loss
can occur more at some frequencies than at others.
