Silly Remote Question...

Good Day, All....
Just got my hands on a HDVR2 to replace my SA Hughes DirecTV
box....I was using a Toshiba SD-H400 w/ the Hughes SA box, and the
Toshiba remote would change channels thru it's IR port to the Hughes.
Now....until I get the HDVR2 "fixed" (wink, wink), will that same
Toshiba Remote change channels on the HDVR2? I tried every suggested
code for every Hughes box, as well as the "functionally identical" to
the HDVR2 codes by other manufacturers. It may seem silly to want
this functionality, but till I can get the HDVR2 loaded up w/ the 4.01
package, it's a short-term need. Any help or suggestions appreciated!

"SA" and "DirecTV" are mutually exclusive.
SA = Stand Alone = recorder without built-in DirecTV tuner.

Some people may refer to a DirecTV receiver (non-DVR) as
a standalone DirecTV receiver. I used two standalone DTV receivers,
one was a Hughes brand, before purchasing a DirecTV DVR.

Standard nomenclature here is that the non-integrated Tivo is referred
to as an SA Tivo. No use trying to change that now. Nomenclature on a
site dedicated to Directv may well be different, but even then you would
be referring to an SA DTV receiver, not an SA Tivo. Perhaps just using
SA is an insufficient description, particularly in a Tivo group.

Yes, but that doesn't make Jack wrong. "SA" alone is ambiguous.

Arrgg, that's why I said:

"Perhaps just using SA is an insufficient description, particularly in a

However, the OP said: "SA Hughes DirecTV box", not ambiguous at all.

True, but it's still a bit confusing, most people assume SA refer to
something else. Still, it's not something he should be berated about, I
agree.
