hard drive upgrade
Anyone,
I bought a TIVO 2 series 40 and would like to upgrade the hard drive instead of buying another TIVO unit, any way to do that? |

Buy a premade hard-drive 20 minutes to drop it in yourself, costs more. places like www.weaknees.com are good. 2. Roll your own if you have a PC and are comfortable with opening it up and messing with Moving hard drives around. Instructions at: http://www.newreleasesvideo.com/hins...to/index9.html or http://tivo.upgrade-instructions.com/ |
If you feel comfortable, definitely "2 - Roll your own.."
It's not that difficult. The hardest part is wading through all the instructions to find the part that applies to your situation : ) I upgraded a Series 1 a couple years ago by adding an 80GB drive. I just bought a 160GB drive for $65 shipped & taxed so the drive is cheap. The SW is free, the instructions are free.... "Jack Zwick" wrote in message ... I'm sure they do (have the torx drivers).
Im a fan of Seagates also, quiet, and they run cool, and they're cheap. I have 2 120's in my series2 SA Tivo. No worries about what recording quality to use, high or best all the way. Rick "Jim S." Call up and ask. /pre /blockquote No cheap drivers. I was hoping to buy something like the bent L shaped driver, BUT, they did have a set for $4.97 of several different sizes of Torx drivers that attach to a hex shaped drill driver, you know the quick interchangeable magnetic holder kind. Picked up a set that should work good.br br Jimbr /body /html |
