HDTV Demos
Hi
I note that Sky have announced they will start transmitting High Definition TV in 2006, and that there is already a HDTV channel transmitting on Astra 1H called Euro1080 now named HD1. I am told that the picture quality is very good and would like to check it out for myself. Does anyone know where I could obtain a demonstration of HDTV and HD1 in the UK ? Many thanks Malcolm |

Selfridges in Brum had a plasma screen (can't remember which one) which purports to be HDTV ready. Lacking any video signal source, they had connected a PC to it showing high definition photographs. The quality was superb and if this is anything to go by, I know I will want it and maybe some of the great British public will, once they have seen it. JPG Many thanks Malcolm |

Bill It only took me 2 hours, and that's with bog standard 0.5meg ADSL Beautiful pictures, but what were those German lions saying - where they trying to get us to buy teabags? |

Bill It only took me 2 hours, and that's with bog standard 0.5meg ADSL Here's a quote about Japan from a speech by the CEO of Ofcom: "Firstly, the extent of roll-out and take-up of next generation broadband at what is, in UK terms, enormously high bandwidth - 10 Megabits as basic standard; and 45 Megabits for about £20 a month." I wonder how many years it'll take before we see 45 Mbps for £20 a month... -- Steve - www.digitalradiotech.co.uk - Digital Radio News & Info DAB sounds worse than FM, Freeview, digital satellite, cable and broadband internet radio |

We can not get the digital system we are using now to have good quality, so what chance is there with HD-TV? It will get mucked up somehow and what is the use of having a system, which have very few programmes made for it? come on, most of the stuff on digital is not even in widescreen. ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 100,000 Newsgroups ---= East/West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =--- |

The BBC plan to produce all their programs in high definition by 2010. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/3652402.stm Far more than you think already is, mainly for the foreign market. Lots of US and Australian stuff that is bought in is already in high definition too. |

If these programms are produce in High definition, then how will they look like on a normal t.v? It is taking a long time to get people to change to digital, it will take decades to get everyone on to HD T.V. I do not really care, but it would be nice if some of the so called digital channels we got now are broadcasted in widescreen, it is not because programmes is not in widescreen, because most of them are, apart from the very old stuff. I just got Sky digital and over 90% of the channels are in 4:3 and the one on Freeview are the same. What would also be nice is if the picture quality could be improved, Sky is better than Freeview in that respect most of the time, but only just. digital is not as good as people thinks. ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 100,000 Newsgroups ---= East/West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =--- |
