SKY+ BOXES

Just had to have my SKY+ box replaced. It just kept hanging, it would then
lose the entire contents of my planner, and even then still require a
reboot. Eventually having checked all connections SKY agreed to replace.
Although it was problematic at the end , that old box was a beaut. Compared
to my ordinary old sky box it flew. Remote control response was fantastic -
holding you finger on the button would smoothly and quickly run through the
channels. The viewing in all fast forward or all rewind modes was flawless.
However, my new box does not seem to communicate well with the remote. If
you enter a 3 digit channel code it seems to stick on the first one, waiting
for you to "think" it did not receive the other two. Then when you reenter
them the original two pop up and the scree is full of digits. Scrolling
through the channels is a misery also. Stop Start Start Stop.

The design is different too. the ols box had the card slots on the left, the
on/off switch on the right. This one has the reverse. Are these two boxes
differnt models - perhaps by different manufactures? Have I been sold a pup
by SKY? I want my old type box back - If the new one doesn't buck up it's
ideas I will be exchanging again. Why even the on screen banner appears to
have amore blocky font! Can anyone offer a better in sight please?

TIA

That was a Pace V2 Sky+.

That's an Amstrad.

There are only three types of Sky+.

Two come from Pace. The old V1 one is very large, silver, and has the
card slot behind a flap in the centre. The new V2 one is cream/pearl
coloured and has the card behind a flap to the left side.

The only other model is from Amstrad and looks like the mirror image
of the newer Pace.

You are probably within your rights to demand the same make/model that
you originally had though you should have done this at the time.
However your Amstrad clearly isn't working properly and so you can
demand a replacement.

You now have an Amstrad, not a PACE.
