Price Drop TV

I've just performed a channel scan, and this station appears
to have moved from Mux 2 to another mux.

I think (but can't confirm because I'm using a pre-historic On Digital
box) it has moved to Mux A or D ?

Whatever mux it has moved to, there is intermittent break up of the signal.
As no other DTT transmission is suffering break up, I can only assume
there's a fault with the transmission, rather than my reception.

Of course nobody (including myself) watches the channel, so this problem
is of purely academic interest :-)

(Tx Hannington)

I'm off to watch some paint drying now.

John October 3rd 04 04:43 PM

Yes I have the same problem. But I get a message on this channel that
pricedrop has moved and I should do a re scan. I have done 6 times but it's
still there. I have it in the proper location too where it works.

HighroydZ October 3rd 04 04:53 PM

Sometimes when they move a channel they leave the channel
it used to be on just to let people know its been moved. You'll
notice in time that the channel will either be deleted or just have
another channel put in its place.

Yes, they are keeping the old transmission there with the caption,
otherwise anyone who has not re-scanned yet, knows to.

AIUI its place will be taken on Mux 2 by ITV-3

Blackhill transmitter doesn't seem to be broadcasting the new price-drop.tv.
To be quite honest, i think it's pish we have to put up with 4 shopping
channels at the moment; i accept one or two MAX could be acceptable, but i
think it's crap we miss out on potential channels (be it anything else
except teleshopping) just because we've got gash and guff on, such as 'ideal
world' - i hope nobody actually purchases the crap they sell.

Mux A, Ch. 24.

Apparently ''Price Drop TV' and some other Mux A channels have been
suffering from a nationwide multiplex problem which NTL (currently 17:15hrs
03/10) confirm has "gone away".....Unless anyone knows differently that is.

Tick

I've just come in from watching paint drying...
I thought you were the expert on transmitters and reception ;-)

Price Drop TV Picture and sound are normal and stable.(Rowridge)
Sunday 17:30
It appears on ch 30, so that is Mux A.

I don't know the number allocated previously, but my OnDigital Nokia that
hasn't been rescanned gives it as Ch 24 where there is a black screen with
white text message telling me to rescan to get Price Drop there.

On my Philips DTR 1500 (On auto update) it now appears as channel number
800. ?

Thanks for that. Still breaking up here on Hannington (while everything else on Mux A
is steady as a rock). I do notice that the bit rate seems ludicrously low, and I assume
it's also stat muxed, so perhaps my box is having trouble tracking it ?

I must admit I do watch it sometimes out of a sort of horrible
fascination.

It amazes me that the salespeople manage to spout such complete crap
for such long periods. It must be quite a skill. Some seem better than
others at it, though I don't particularly think that that is an
accolade :-)

I also was thinking that, what channel could itv3 be on? bbc3's 7
unfortunately, so unless they could fiddle that about, which they wouldn't
anyway, it'll end up farrrr away from itv2 and itv1, aw shame. More 'a touch

I'm sure there'll be another "celebrity" reality show along soon, until then
here's 24 hours of laughing at the rubbish singers on X-Factor... They
definitely need a new series of Harry Hill's TV Burp.

Parky's on at 10 at night, the only way to show that repeated the same night
would be to do a +1 type setup.

So we'll get "The Bill" at 2000 on ITV1 followed by "Inside The Bill" at
2100 on ITV2 and then "The Making of Inside The Bill" on ITV3 at 2200.
Now if they did something decent like some proper motorsport coverage I'd
probably watch but at the moment it looks like ITV3 will be joining ITV2 and
ftn on the 'to be watched' list just after the paint drying.

suppose.

Price-Drop has moved from Mux 2 to Mux A. However it has kept it's
logical Channel number (24) which could be the source of confusion.

That was why specific instructions said not to rescan until October 1st,
I think.

This frees up a slot on Mux 2 for ITV3 but the Logical Channel Number
has not been announced AFAIK. 13 seems most likely but 9 would be better
if the teletext service occupying that LCN was reallocated.

Oh Calamity.

There'll be no chance then of genuine ITV drama classics, such
as Granada's epic, Family At War [1], and LWT's Dennis Potter
season ?

Not that anyone running ITV has the attention span to appreciate
programming like that; perhaps BBC 4 will show them instead.

[1] To be fair this was actually shown by Granada Plus back in
1997.

Seeing as 4 Arabic channels up in the 800's have just be removed that
argument doesnt hold water any longer. However, no doubt their epg slots
would have to be re-allocated on the basis of the next 4 channels
waiting to launch rather than just handing them over to itv.

)There does seem to be a software problem with the digiboxes with
respect to the number of channels it can handle, Im not disputing that -
apparently new software will be run out later in the year then a whole
host of dire new services will be able to appear)

I'm sure I've seen the details somewhere but it wasn't where I thought (the DTG
site). They do have a website though after googling: http://www.teleg.co.uk/

They apparently transmit from 6-7pm every day. I don't think there's much on
there that hasn't already been shown on BBC Scotland or STV/Grampian.

Gloat!
Having accumulated 3 Pace DTVA boxes in this house there isn't a problem -
just create a user list with a selection of channels in any order. When
using the list a "station"'s channel number is just its position in the
