Ch 9 is currently Teletext. Ch 8 appears to be unused.

No. C4 in Wales.

You get into trouble if you don't refer to it as S4C, I'd've thought.
Sheep's head at the bottom of your bed, and all that.

No, S4C is on 4 in Wales; Channel 4 is on 8.

TeleG (gaelic) in Scotland

Does TeleG ever show anything?

Yes but it's only on for about an hour a day.

When? Where's it advertised? GRFI: Gaelic-medium-educated 9yo in the
house...

It's on from 6pm to 7pm daily. It slots into the transmission gap between
ABC1 and TCM. Its web site is at
http://www.teleg.co.uk/

TeleG (gaelic) in Scotland; it'll be 34 I heard; which is a pain in the arse

Gloat!
Having accumulated 3 Pace DTVA boxes in this house there isn't a problem -
just create a user list with a selection of channels in any order. When
using the list a "station"'s channel number is just its position in the
list.
