IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL FREEVIEW CUSTOMERS
To continue dropping in on great savings on Freeview, don't forget to
retune your digital box on Friday 1st October.

It's really easy to do yourself. Just follow these 2 simple steps:

1. Do an internal scan for any other interesting things you could be
spending your life doing, rather than watching mind numbing TV shopping
channels

2. 'Store' these in your brain.

That's it. If you have any difficulties and would like to contact your
box manufacturer, click here for a list of contact details.

*Note:Please do not retune your box before Friday 1st October

Why is this _important_ information? Price drop only sells second rate
goods at inflated prices.

Unfortunately, it isn't even a loss! The coming of ITV3 doesn't mean the end
of price-drop.tv, it just means they'll be somewhere else on the digital
spectrum.

Phew. That's a relief :)

Price Drop TV. Isn't that the channel that has been featured on
Watchdog recently for scamming the gullible public?

No, that was Auction World TV, on $ky. Price Drop TV have been offering Globes
recently at a fantastically high guide price. I saw the same product in Costco
last week for about £41 plus VAT.

But the globes do show what the world will look like after being hit by another
planet.
I think those that cut out the shapes of the countries, must work in the dark.

They probably come out of the Far East sweat shops at a few quid each.

Didn't Bid Up TV used to put a guide price of nearly £1k on these
objects?

The thing about these auction sites is that the things they sell are either
'exclusive' to them, i.e. they can put whatever guide price they like on, or
the item is only available from other auction tv/ web sites. The whole thing
is a scam.
I too saw the globe in Costco just yesterday and was shocked at just how
much profit price-drop.tv is still making on these awful looking globes.
(normally the globes go far about £250)
Whoever buys theses tacky things obviously have far too much money and so
little taste.

Just as the lottery is a tax on the poor, shopping channels are a tax on
the stupid - they have replaced Ratners.

If their profits replaced the license fee everyone would be happy!

True, very true,
I do not think ITV will be that interesting either, but I will have a
look and see what it is about.

Phew. That's a relief :)

As far as the Bid-up and Price-drop ugly sisters go, you're probably right,
but just occasionally (well, twice) I've turned to QVC and found something I
really wanted, that I would've bought anyway, and after checking prices
everywhere they've been the cheapest. Not only that, but their service is
first rate.

I think there's a place for QVC. But the other shopping channels are just
wasting valuable space. And the trouble is that they'll go on and on as long
as there's a chav out there who still needs a 9ct gold curb chain.

You will find that many items are exclusive to QVC in Europe so you will
not be able to compare prices easily.

I wouldn't know. After having shopping channels available on my STB fro
a week or so when I bought it I came to the conclusion that no sane
person could ever watch that crap and removed them from the list of
available channels.

True enough. But the two things I have bought were available elsewhere and
they were definitely cheaper. QVC is okay.
