Its worth a mention that the picture quality of the five main channels and much better on Freeview (through your aerial) than they are on Sky Digital. Talk about pixelation. I wouldn't bother watching Sky if they paid me! Freeview is the better option, if picture quality is important to you. James |

By the sounds of it all of these channels are FTA already (and available with a non-Sky FTA box, or a PC card) - with the exception of ITV1, C4 and Five - which will now be receivable on a Sky receiver with a Solus-type card. Wonder if something similar to the £150 offer will also be available to ex-Sky subscribers who want a new viewing card to watch the 3 FTV services. Steve |

My sky pictures are superb, even after being recompressed by Tivo, whereas Freeview, just a whiff of a major scene change leaves a pixel mess for 1/10 second. |

Freeview is the better option, if picture quality is important to you. Again the total opposite of most people find! ITV and C4 D-Sat transmissions are at a restricted horizontal resolution of 540x576. All five main channels on DTT are at 720x576. Having said that though, BBC and C5 on DTT transmit their 4:3 pictures pillarboxed into a 16:9 frame, and rely on the STB to produce a full frame 4:3 image under AFD control. So in short 4:3 transmissions can (and do) look worse on DTT than D-Sat. FWIW my observations comparing my Sky+ box against my Mk 1 Pace OnD box a- BBC 1/3/4/N24 DTT slightly better than D-Sat, except for 4:3 progs BBC 2 D-Sat better always than DTT ITV/C4 (Mer and Lon) DTT always better than D-Sat C5 D-Sat always better than DTT |

I was jealous of friends in Freeview areas until I got FTA satellite and saw the difference in picture quality. |
