Should i swap current freeview-box?
Hi...
Just a quick post to ask, should I swap my phillips DTR1500 (which doesn't seem to have any reviews on the net, am I the only person with it?!) for the sony VTX-D800U ( http://www.dabs.com/uk/productView.htm?quicklinx=2S8G ) ? It's £10 cheaper than the phillips one I currently have, and although I like the interface, I feel it just doesn't handle signals as well as the sony may, as sony are a very good brand and most of their products are excellent. I can't see much technical advantage over the both mentioned boxes, but i just have a feeling that my current one is tosh... Cheers |

In what way do you get the feeling that it's tosh? How do you expect this feeling to lessen were you to use a Sony box instead? How could you tell? It might be cheaper to make a fake Sony badge and stick it on your DTR1500. My DTR1500 works just fine. I'm not sure how another box could be any different. I guess I could do an A/B comparison of picture quality etc but I really can't be bothered. |

Certainly is.....nobody suggested it WAS a Toshiba though.....
Sony manufacture some of the best products on the market, they just have that reputation and always excel. Phillips started off as a ****ty british company and have worked their way up - their customer services are non-existent, and some of the products they make have typical british quality about them - they just don't last. Now that i see the sony is an extra 35 squid i wont be bothering with it, i'll just stick to **** teletext-interaction with the phillips; but if i had the choice and inclination right now i'd get the sony.
