8 Tescos now selling digiboxes [Was: Getting free channels after cancelled Sky Subs]

Or, if you live near one of 6 select branches of Tesco, you can walk
in and buy a brand-new Sky digibox for GBP113.

See uk.tech.sky for details.

Is there a list of the six branches anywhere as I can only find
messages saying there are 6, none listing them...

OK, just phoned tescos and there are now 8 stores selling the
digiboxes:

Newcastle
Peterborough
Stockton
Warrington
New Malden
Pitsea
Milton Keynes
Sandhurst

None in Kent for me, but I may well take a trip to Basildon this
weekend :0)

As with a lot of electrical items in supermarkets, they seem to buy a
large batch and then they are in the stores until they sell out. They
don't necessarily re-stock. While the Tesco's local to me had large
stocks of 60GBP Freeview boxes before Christmas I haven't seen any in
two stores this week.

Is there an advantage in having a second box (rather than replacement)? For
example can you split the wires and have two tuners? Or is there technology
based in the dish itself?

Cheers,
Chris

You'll have to replace the single output LNB on your dish with a dual output
one.

Still greatly overpriced. You can get a proper digital satellite receiver
for under £100.

The only difference between crap and art, is that art has brass name

I may get an extra one with a next generation card.

You may have trouble getting ITV-1, C4 and 5 on it though.
