Sony IDTV V3.00 software bug?

My Sony DX150 IDTV has upgraded itself to version 3.00 software.

Since the upgrade the button on the remote that flicks between the current
and previously viewed channel is not working properly. Its an intermittent
problem too which makes it more annoying.

As an example, i put channel 18 "the hits" on, then type in channel 21 for
"TMF". Pressing the "previously viewed channel" button correctly moves back
to 18, but further presses do nothing. The light flashes on the front of the
TV so its getting the signal and Im not changing channels too quickly
either.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Cheers, Stew.

Mine WASN'T doin it but now all you lot have written in, mine IS!! It
doesn't do it all the time though. I'm trying to figure out if there is any
kind of pattern

OK, I got it.

The TV is seeing channels with MHEG (red button etc) as 2 channels on the
same channel if you understand me (The picture/sound one channel and the
MHEG as another).

eg If you flick to channel 18, the yellow banner comes up for "The hits",
then goes and comes back quickly but this time says "data service" in the
top right corner. I think this means the "Last viewed" button is changing
between the data and normal on the same channel now, instead of going to the
last "proper" channel.

It does this with all channels with the red button/interactive. Flicking
between 2 channels with no interactive eg 21 and 03 works fine.

Bloody annoying!!

Ah, I get it! So, when I thought mine WAS working fine, it wasn't! I was
just trying two UNinteractive channels? Now you've pointed it out, its
REALLY gonna annoy!! Its like the flashing clock on the vcr...the one you
prop a book in front of rather than set the clock!!

Thank mate!!

Sorry for pointing it out! The girlfriend thinks its great though now I
can't change channels quite so quick.

Can someone please post the phone number for the sony idtv support line so I
can have a moan to them please, I know its posted on this group regularly
but I cant find it!

Cheers,
Stew.

I found the sony helpline number, its 08706001717 if anyone needs it.

Spoke to them about the button problem and its the first they have heard of
it since the upgrades went out so I'm waiting for a tech guy to ring me back
for details.

Maybe others with the same problem could let them know on the above number
so they will fix it asap.

I have used this button since the update and here are my findings.

Say for example you watch BBC1 (channel 01) then decide you want to watch UK
History (12) then Hits (18). You then press the cycle button.

Previously it would have gone to 12, then another press back to 18. Another
subsequent back to 12, another press back to 18. It would flick between the
2 channels.

However, now when you press the cycle button it takes you back to 12. Press
it again, it goes back to 01, press it again it goes to 12. Press it once
more it goes to 01. It ends up flicking between 12 and 01.

I think this is going to have to be a case of people getting used to it. I
can see why Sony may have done the update this way as you would only be
changing the channel (in theory) because you were not happy with what was
being broadcasted. Therefore it takes you to the previous channel. If you
are still not happy with that, it takes you to the previous channel before
THAT.

I can see the method, but I think I prefer the way it used to work.

I still can't get multiscreens on BBC News 24.
