Sorry about the intrusion, but there aren't any analogue newsgroups. Any body know if the Rhuthin (Wales) transmitter requires horizontal or vertical aerial for reception in the South Manchester area. Try using the UK analogue TV reception predictor on www.wolfbane.co.uk. Not only will it give you the information you ask but calculate the bearing to the transmitter so you can point the beam. For example, from Manchester Airport the nearest HTV transmitter is: Moel-y-Parc Group B, Horizontal, 44 miles at 258 degrees. -- Dave Roberts |

I know it will be a fairly weak signal, but I have promised my wife to get this prog. for her, and I am just about to install the aerial. I would appreciate any good advice. Rhuthin (Wales) transmitter requires horizontal or vertical
aerial for reception in the South Manchester area. Do you mean Moel-y-parc? If so S4C is on ch 42 so you need a Gp aerial. The polarity is horizontal. Can you receive this signal in Manchester? Whay not use satellite? Bill On the subject of television interference, there can be no doubt that the most effective solution is the one that prevents the interference from ever occurring. Gordon Moel y Parc does put a good signal into parts of Machester (ch42 horizontal), but you will need an aerial with a good front/back ratio to avoid co-channel interfernce from Saddleworth. - Arthur |
