There's allegedly an EU requirement that the first SCART must always

output
the signal from the TV tuner. I just don't have a reference -

interested to
know it if anyone has it?

any particular reason why?

Probably something to do with using analogue descramblers - bound to be
something to do with the French!!!

Remember this goes back to the 1980s!!

On a personal note, cant stand the french. but there you go !

What's an analogue descrambler? I take it that it's something that was only
used/available in France.

I've got to admit that I question the sanity and the competance of whoever
designed the SCART connector (no matter what their nationality) - the pins
are far too flimsy and all to easy to bend accidentally. Also, it's very
easy to get partial contact if one end of the connector pulls out because
the cable is so rigid - there should have been been a proper latching
mechanism to hold the plug securely in place.
