guide price's.............. GONE
Tuning into bid-up and price-drop this morning revealed that they have been
stripped of displaying and mentioning of guide prices. Which must be to do with the new regulations set by Offcom. The guide price graphic on both channels has been removed. No longer will they be able to fob people off. http://forum.digitalspy.co.uk/board/...d.php?t=175001 -- Please use ROT13 to translate this message ;oD |

If, for example, I can buy a Kodak 6490 for £200 from Amazon then wtf is Bid-Up TV doing quoting a £420 guide price on a poxy Vivitar 3.1 mega pixel camera? They're misleading people who don't know any better and think they're getting a bargain - on top of having to pay ott prices for delivery. I just wish Offcom would smack the arse of Bid-Up TV for not actually offering any bid up auctions. Gareth. |

Ok, to defend Bid-Up a litlle here, in the instance you quoted above, this would be the RRSP (Recommended Retailers Selling Price), this is set by all manufacturing companies when selling their products to the retailers (Obviously the retailers cost is probably a 1/4 of that price). In the old days, especially on Electronics, the manufacturers forced retailers to go out at the RRSP, now of course, it is illegal for manufacturers to force retailers to go out at fixed prices - they can, however, reccommend a sell price, not that any retailers take a blind bit of notice anymore..in fact they use it to show just how much a saving their really is on the manufacturers price.... Amazon will be selling at their own sellprice, still making margin, but not as much as someone like Dixons for example... So technically Bidup are most likely quoting the RRSP, though you and I know that the price can be a lot cheaper elsewhere..... |
