SKY + can it record bbc itv etc without contract ?

Is it possible to record tv without a contract ie the free channels.

(ie 1 2 3 4 & channel 5) these free to air channels.

Yes, I do just that, but you still need to pay Sky the sub for Sky+
functionality . Therefore total bill to Sky; £10/month.

If I were you, and if you are in range of Freeview (Digital Terrestrial)
I'd consider a DTT PVR. As soon as one emerges that has the same
functionality as Sky+, and is as stable (no s******ing at the back
please) I'm making the switch.

If I had no PVR today, I'd go straight for a DTT PVR now.

Cheers for the reply, went with your advice, just purchased the Thompson
DHD4000

Ripped out the 40 gig drive and inserted a 120 gig drive, works spot on have
to wait until 3am tonight for the epg to update but looks a canny box.

Adding to the OP's questions, if I add a quad LNB would I be able to
record say BBC1 while watching C5?
No Freeview here :-(

The Sky+ can record two things at once and always needs two LNB inputs
to work properly.

Thanks, oh wise one :-)
I was looking at twin tuner PVRs but without digital signal they're
not going to work at all.
Ebay here we come!
