Dish cable problems
Our builders managed to cut the cable from the dish on Wednesday. Together
we cut the cable back, wired together the two ends of copper solid wire, and then the two lots of braided wire, ensuring they were kept separate. Sky then worked ok. Yesterday they managed to break the connection, but as it was late in the day we didn't manage to fix it. Today we've been trying to fix it without any success, all we get is the "No satellite signal being received" window. Is there anything that requires resetting, or is there a fuse that could of blown? regards IanC |

You really need to use a proper joining connectors then taped up for any chance of getting it working:- i.e. 1 X http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/MXSATC.html and 2X http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/MXSATP.html I think your local B&Q warehouse also has them Jon |

Thanks for the replies. Is there anything I could of damaged, a fuse,
capacitor, etc, or something that needs resetting? regards IanC ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul Hyett" Newsgroups: uk.media.tv.sky Sent: Saturday, December 04, 2004 8:09 AM Subject: Dish cable problems In uk.media.tv.sky on Sat, 4 Dec 2004, Jomtien wrote : River Tramp wrote: Together we cut the cable back, wired together the two ends of copper solid wire, and then the two lots of braided wire, ensuring they were kept separate. Any joins in the cable can cause leakage of signal , hence poor pic quality or No Satellite Signal message. It needs to be CT100 satellite cable not TV coaxial cable. Best to get builders to agree to deducting Sky's £65 callout charge from your bill. Regards |
Bought 10m digital cable from B & Q, rewired the whole lot, and still no
signal; am convinced something else has happened, but am getting our local installer in on Monday to relocate the dish & sort out. regards IanC "Davy" wrote in message ... That should read "you should" not "you need to". A single length is best but a join won't hurt too much if it is done properly. -- Digibox problem? : A reboot solves 90% of these. You did unplug the box before fiddling with these connections, didn't you? If you have removed the short then your builders have probably moved the dish. -- Digibox problem? : A reboot solves 90% of these.
