I have a pc 2600 Sky DIGIBOX - with viewing card for the free channels.

Also I have a new Pace Sky Plus (newest model) - with box - complete with

Even so, if you check the small print (it may even be on the card itself)
I'm fairly sure that it says that these cards remain the property of Sky,
and they can request it back from you at any time.

Like I say, could be wrong, but safest to check.

The cards remain the property of Sky despite that there is no "Paid"
subscription attached to them.

Selling them without their permission is illegal.

but perhaps you can give them as a free gift when someone donates £20 to
your bank account??

Nope, the card is not yours to give away!

Hi

Okay I wont sell the bloody card then..............bet it wud be a different
argument if you actually "wanted" one!

Dave

BTW If they are fta/view - then how will sky know if they have changed
hands.....the box doesnt have to be connected to a phone line anymore.

And then what happens when the person who has obtained the card decides to
subscribe, since it's your name and address that is associated with that
card you could be in for some trouble.

If people really want one that badly they can already get it directly from
Sky for £20, it's far safer that way.

No, the arguement would be the same as Sky would still own the cards.

The cards would need to be 'paired' with the box which involves calling Sky
and them updating their computers. Without that, they'd not pickup anything
on any other box.

Given that the cards would be registered to an account, the person would
have to know the details of that account

In addition, this is an advert:

Generally, yes. What's unfriendly about pointing out things you clearly
don't know?

If you have a FTV card of unknown or dubious origin try this:

Put the card in your box and connect the phone line.
Go to:
Interactive - Sky customer services - Sky statement
The box dials SKY and if the facility has never been used (which is the case
with most cards)
You are asked to submit a PIN
Put one in (say 1234) and confirm it.

You will now see the full name and address of the person who had the
original subscription, even if it has long lapsed.
Moreover you can see his or her PPV viewing habits and monthly spend.

Are you still sure you want to sell your cards Dave?

Hi

I have withdrawn the card from sale...........

But I have never ordered a pay per view and my viewing habits must be logged
at Sky anyways - whats the problem with this?

If they were re-activated the bill would go to you. In fact any
purchaser who knows your name and address could probably get several
months viewing of the top package at your expense.

I suggest that you don't sell any cards that aren't real FTV cards of
the BBC or £20 varieties.
