For some reason although I have second location picture set to 4:3, the RF2 is still outputting a wide signal - any ideas? I assume your second TV is 4:3 set Select a programme that is likely to be W/S, say BBC1 Go and watch it on your second set. Does everybody look ridiculously tall and thin? If 'yes' you are right and something is wrong If "no" then your box is NOT outputting an anamorphic (windscreen) image. If this is the case please post exactly what you mean by a windscreen picture? Are you concerned about black bands top and bottom on some programmes? -- Graham. %Profound_observation% |
For some reason although I have second location picture set to 4:3, the RF2 is still outputting a wide signal - any ideas? It works like this: "sky" IR keypress is sent to the RF window on the front of the digibox using a remote control: - picture out of both scart sockets and both RF outputs is in the main ratio setting "sky" IR keypress is sent to RF2 port (eg using a TVlink): - picture out of both scart sockets and both RF outputs is in the "second location" ratio setting So if you have a TVlinked TV in another room, all this does is save you a few seconds of manually going into the setup menus and changing to letterbox for your other TV, and changing it back to 16:9 later when you're in the living room. Ie it saves time. No new feature. That's *all* it does! So in your case for RF2 (and RF1, and both scarts) to switch to 4:3, you have to activate it from the remote location. HTH You are only bloody right Mike! (Graham hangs head in shame for posting the wrong information) I thought it was odd that a software revision could release a feature that would have required major hardware support from the day of manufacture. I should have followed my initial instinct! -- Graham. %Profound_observation% |
Sorry - this only works if the box gets a command from a sky eye in to
RF2? That seems a bit crap to me. Oh well, I'll manually switch the picture when going to bed every evening! Thanks chaps Ed ------ "Graham" wrote in message ... Oh well, I'll manually switch the picture when going to bed every evening! Er hows that crap???? The Sky box needs to know, which output ratio you want, it can't somehow know all by itself, you have decided to go and watch it on the other TV!!! The box can only output one ratio at a time, image the extra hardware required if you wanted it to out put two separate signals! Some people eh!! Once you have a magic eye connected, the moment you press a button on the remote, the box knows whether it has come from the sensor on the front of the box, or via the RF, then it knows which ratio to output. Before this feature was added, you had to manually select the ratio yourself. I never bothered I just left it on 16:9, and watched it squashed on the old 4:3 TV, can view it L/B now without the hassle of manually changing. -- Current Items For Sale: http://www.bextech.me.uk/forsale For A Great Discussion: http://www.bextech.org.uk For South East Brum: http://www.south-east-birmingham.tk For Free £20 credit when you get refered to TalkTalk contact me via above site. Er hows that crap???? Er, because I cant have a sky eye in the bedroom as that tv comes off a splitter and booster It would be good if the box were able to output two separate feeds - this is what the menu option to select a second location format suggests to me is possible. Clearly this is a hardware not a software upgrade, however. |

You just need to use the right equipment (loopers). -- Digibox problem? : A reboot solves 90% of these.
