Sky Installation
 

Do Sky still tell you to plug the sky box into a phone line? Is this a
requirement, as I want it in a room no where near the phone line.

Yes they do and if you can't provide a socket they will refuse to install
it.

They will install an extension for you if a socket is available within
fairly close proximity.

what happens if you allow an extension to be put in, but as soon as they
go, unplug it. Will the box still work?

You would be in breach of Sky's T+Cs.

Technically correct . . . . .

They would initially write to you asking for you to check your phone line,
after that they will invoice you for the full cost of the Digibox, Dish
etc,
which I am told is around £250+ .

It's a big gamble and not worth trying to overcome

I never had the phone line in when I got my Sky - When the installer came to
put the phone cable in I just asked him to leave it loose and i'll attach
it - when he left I took out the cable and threw it in the drawer - only
used it once or twice for Pay Per view footie game.
