What's it worth?

Hi

I have decided to jump-ship and cancel my Sky sub. So, I now have a 3 year
old, immaculate, boxed, silver Panasonic box (TU-DSB31) with all of the bits
and manual for sale. I also have a blue ("house") Sky card that is
subscribed for another month. How much is this lot worth? And are there any
risks involved in selling it with the card (could an unscrupulous buyer get
in touch with Sky pretending to be me and ask for it to be re-activated and
I end up paying or it, for instance)?

Thanks.

Yes; the card isn't yours, it belongs to Sky.

However a quick glance through listings on Ebay will show you that many people
sell these cards along with the digibox. The going rate is 50-75 pounds.

Remembering that Sky do browse ebay looking for people offering *their*
property for sale...

And they then do what exactly? Unless they have some way of identifying the
vendors I fail to see what they can possibly do about it.

I would imagine they'd bid for it, ensure they win, and then pull details
of the vendor's address and 'phone number.

Report it to ebay as someone selling stolen goods?

I don't think Ebay know or care as there are dozens that have been on sale for
days at a time.

Then Sky will do what? Absolutely nothing of course because they already claim
to own the card. There is no way that they are going to prosecute someone for
selling a Sky card. Can you imagine the adverse publicity? Most Sky subscribers
believe that the card belongs to them just as much as the digibox does.

Is is worth Sky's while? Perhaps they think that someone watching the
FTV/FTA stuff might be attacted to become a subscriber to a package.
