Watching an amazing programme on BBC1 about elephants.
Isn't it odd that they can have widescreen dung-cams and plop-cams, yet they cant give us widescreen pictures from Euro2004! Utter crap. Brendan |

That's because they didn't provide the main match coverage from Euro 2004. Direct your criticism at RTP Portugal (The country's state broadcaster, who are a 100% 4:3 outfit) and the EBU who co-ordinated the international coverage http://www.rtp.pt/ http://www.ebu.ch/en/index.php |
i saw it too and was amazed - and made to feel a little indequate!

But because they didn't provide enough different angles for coverage, BBC/ITV didnt take em. Loz |

That was Euro 1080 http://www.euro1080.tv/partners.htm The Beeb and ITV did seem to have their own 16:9 cameras around the grounds (as well as of course in the pundit's studio). The half time replays often included 16:9 pictures either taken from these cameras, or perhaps a down converted feed from Euro 1080 ? |

Brendan Oooo, could that have been because it was not the BBC who were filming Euro 2004 and it was a feed from the Portugese? Prat. |

Loz Besides, my original post was intened to be a more light-hearted comparison between Euro2004 and a simple David Attenborough documentary . The emphasis on my original post was the fact that we take wide-screen cameras for granted so much that we can even make them look like elephant poo (to fool the elephants) and not think twice about it! The documentary was hilariously funny.... Great close-up footage too. Lighten up Charlotte! Brendan |

But you claimed the BBC couldn't give us widescreen because they didn't have cameras there and took a feed from the Portugese instead - implying it was the Portugese fault there was no widescreen. The point I made was that it was the BBC could have given us widescreen as it WAS available from the Portugese - but the BBC choose not to. Loz |
