Advice wanted on AV Receiver for Sky+
To plug a gap in my set-up I'd appreciate advice on an affordable AV
Receiver which can handle Sky+'s Dolby 5.1 output. Unfortunately...... I just bought a Sony STR DE495 which looked to be up to the job, but only reproduces DD Pro-Logic. My Home Theatre already does that! |

Mike C Wish you were right, for that's exactly what I thought. It can only deliver Dolby PL through the optical input. If you look at the spec of the 595, that gives it away - it actually says it decodes 5.1 signals. The 495 doesn't, I now crucially see. |

So the 495 could take an optical input from a DVD player that had a DD decoder but not from the SKY+ that just passers the data through.
