Recording from Sky + to DVD RW laptop
 

Anyone know if it can be done.
Say if I use the serial port at the rear of the sky plus box, and feed it
into a usb connection on my laptop.?
Advice please all you switched on people.

You need a tvinput card on your laptop which will record the signal from
sky+ and then you can stick it on a DVD if you require.

I have just got this to work for me!

1st thing is a laptop is not up to the job I have tried with my p4 2.4
the other issue with a laptop is that there is no audio line in so the
sound was boomy as it used the microphone input and it just cant
handle it - I have setup a p4 2.8 with nothing else on it and the pc
can only just handle it - you need to use a product from
www.avermedia.com called ezmaker dvd usb 2 - your pc has to have a usb
2 connection but with tweaking and playing it really works!!

The Hauppauge WInTV PVR2 USB should work fine for you. This does MPEG2 encoding
in hardware so doesn't need a very fast CPU. Minimum specification is a 733MHz

This is not direct extraction. Direct extraction is not possible.
