Anyone got a "yellow button" message yet???

Whats that all about? My digibox had reset itself over night, and I now have
a yellow option on the now&next bar for messages - dont tell me it is mail
notification (I hope not as I never use it!)

I guess if I had read up the newsgroup a bit I might have seen what it was
all about - oh well, seems like another pointless "feature".

No doubt SKY or a third party is going to introduce a SMS or Email
service to the SKY D platform and the yellow button now has software
which allows it to give easy access to incoming messages.

The most interesting feature for me is the ability to have the RF2 output
set to a different picture ratio for those with both a 16:9 and 4:3 displays
connected to a single digibox.

yeah that could be useful, not sure quite how it works as I would have
thought that setting was part of the video encoder chip which I would expect
to be a common feed to the scart socket and the two RF modulators?

Nope. According to the tech group uk.tech.tv.sky - it works like this:

"sky" IR keypress is sent to the RF window on the front of the digibox
using a remote control:
- picture out of both scart sockets and both RF outputs is in the main
ratio setting

"sky" IR keypress is sent to RF2 port (eg using a TVlink):
- picture out of both scart sockets and both RF outputs is in the
"second location" ratio setting

Too bad, in that case I am in no rush to get SKY+ updated
with this new featu)
The only program I do watch in 4:3 on the second TV is the football
which looks better full frame on a 28" and it's not an issue to press
a few buttons to change ratio for the duration.

Thanks for that - that explains something I've just posted about in
another group.

Damn and blast - I was hoping I could get 4:3 letterbox via uhf as I
distribute digibox uhf round the house to 4:3 sets. As described above,
it doesn't work like that.

Well that is indeed a pretty useless feature then. I am sure there must be
more asked for features they could have spent their time implementing (such
as last channel or one touch subtitles)

Or the ability to put "radio" programmes in the personal planner.

Seems pretty USEFUL to me!!!!! (and probably many others) as my bedroom TV
is 4:3 and this new feature avoids manually changing settings on the

Digibox.

Really - with one video modulator - what else could have been done?

I agree they couldnt have done it any other way, however I cant see it being
that high up on their feature request list thats all. Maybe it is quite
useful if you have a magic eye thing, but I use a remote extender (which
repeats all remotes and not just the sky remote) which wouldnt work with
this system anyway :o(
