Sky plus

I have a Pace Sky + box with latest code.

I have started to have problems with recorded programmes.

The replay just stops, with the image frozen on screen. If I press
Play, the on screen indicator appears, but the indicator on the box is
blank.

Has anyone seen this - is it a disk problem ? There are no problems
with live programmes.

I've had this just the once - normal playback always froze at the same
point.. Luckily I was able to fast-forward through the bad section (just a
few seconds worth) and the rest played back fine. My guess would be a bad
disk block that FF x30 skipped.

I used to get this, when I opened the doors to the cabinet the sky+ was in,
it started working again! I assume the poor thing overheated!

Certainly. Do a full reset from the service menu. This will erase your
recordings. If that doesn't work and the box is too old to allow for
free service from Sky then pull the drive, connect it to your PC and
run the manufacturer's test software on it (probably MaxBlast from
Maxtor). If that doesn't work either then buy a new drive with a three
year warranty but don't buy Maxtor.
