I would like to find an internet-based TV guide for the free-to-view
channels.

The guide on the digibox is pretty sparse but a printed magazine, apart even
from the price considerations, contains an awful lot of "junk information"
that I don't want.

Is something in between these two extremes available on the web?

I just love newsgroups.

According to my newsreader your reply was posted five minutes earlier than
my question That is probably because my computer is on a different time
zone, but you were VERY quick.

Thank you very much.

The only drawback to your suggestion is that I'll have to use Windows (TM)
to run the software. I do have a somewhat antiquated machine for such
emergencies and that will do the trick. I have downloaded and installed the
trial version and will give it a good tryout in the 30 days allowed. In the
meantime, if anyone can suggest something that doesn't need Microsoft
software I'd be grateful to hear about it.

Doesn't Digiguide still do the web-based guide? This was not installed
software, just a website.

Have you discovered www.bleb.org - you can either use the web site or create
your own xml code (I'l get round to it myself one of these days!) to view
the data however you want.

Indeed. www.mydigguide.com. Cost is the same as the download version, £8.99 pa.

Just as a blatant plug, have a freely viewable TV Guide on my site at
www.telewestinfo.co.uk.:-)

Yes, indeed they do. Thanks for pointing it out. I hadn't gone further than
their home page which says something like "click here to download a trial
version". The website on the other hand does not agree with either of the
two browsers I am using on the RISC PC and the Windows trial version has
already made a very favourable impression on me. Amazingly versatile and a
fraction of the cost of TV magazines.

I shall have to fire up the windows box more frequently.

If he were using Linux then he may be able to get Digiguide running under WINE.
However he does refer the RISC PC which is that Acorn Archimedes thing AFAIK Of
course this is even more freakish than Linux:-)

I don't use LINUX, I use RISC OS and that makes me more than just a tad
freakish, but I am very seriously considering giving up and switching to
Windows as the lack of compatibility with the rest of the world is getting
me extremely disappointed.
