Sky+ is it worth it??

Some folks claim to have encountered the bug on unmodified boxes, but
it seems 120Mb drives filled to over the 40Gb mark are more likely to
encounter it - more so the nearer it is to being full. It happens after
a power cycle usually.

what are Sky doing about it?

Nothing publically. They haven't even acknowledged that it exists at
all, but I'd think it unlikely they're not at least looking into it.

Or does it affect all Sky+ boxes from new? if so what are

Any advice will be greatly received..

I just got Sky+ and I must say that i'm very impressed. I
used to own a Tivo that was simply awesome but Sky+ is also
very good. The only thing it's lacking in my opinion is a
decent search facility for programmes. With the Tivo I could
just enter the first few letters of the show and then find
out when, where and what channels it's on. With Sky+ you
have to know when a programme is on to record it.

Apart from that it's outstanding, record two channels at
once is fantastic and it's so much quicker than my old
digibox.

Or you can search by letter.

Hmm... Tried that once, can't remember what I was looking for but I
ended up having to go through about twenty or more pages all listing
exactly the same programme. Something like "Shopping Channel", where
there is not any specific programme names because all there is, is
shopping in two hour segments or something.

10 pages full of Eastenders listings on UK Gold and UK Gold
+1, very helpful.

The search facility with the Tivo was simply outstanding.
Just start entering the letters (Thats more than one, not
like Sky+) and the shows are listed. Select the show and you
can see what channels it is on and when, simple.

Why cant Sky implement a system like this?

Because Sky+ isn't TiVo. If you want TiVo, I've got one for sale.

I've got TiVo and Sky+, previously had two TiVo's, but one has been
replaced by Sky+.

Sold my Tivo a week or so ago.

Overall i'm happy with Sky+ and the ability to record two
channels at the same time and watch and record makes up for
the lack of a search feature.

I'm thinking of ebaying mine. Probably a BuyItNow @ £199 with £15
insured P&P.

Does that sound fair?

How did you do yours? How much did you sell it for?

I sold it to a private buyer who contacted me after seeing a
post by me on this group. I sold it for £160 inc p+p, so I
actually made £150. You should be able to get more on Ebay
if you can be bothered.

Anywhere between £150-£200 is fair for a non lifetime Tivo.

Thanks.

I've really just got to work out how to package it. I don't have the
original box anymore.

Not forgetting that with Tivo's Wish Lists, you can also type in some
keywords, and then any programmes matching these keywords (at any time
in the future) will automatically be recorded, even if they are not in
the current schedules.

This is very useful when you see (say) an advert for a BBC programme
which is "Coming Soon". You just create a Title Wish List, and you
won't miss it when they finally get round to scheduling it.

And don't you also have to wade through a list of programmes for
*every* single channel, even those to which you do not subscribe?
