sky hasn't got a clue?

this is a bit complicated... I'm outside of the UK and I asked my friends
to ring up Sky to have it activated - they guys told them to go into
installer's menu and do all this channel scan and stuff... Of course, the
screen says the card is not activated...
Also, in the mailing with the card there is nothing about having to call
them or anything. Any idea on what i should do now.

This is a sky+ Pace box and I bought it for a full price that is without
any special installation offer/subsidy from sky...

cheers,

Pablo

This refers to boxes connected to the UK phone system. Yours is not.

Get your friend to ring back. The information he needs to know is:

Your subscriber number, name and address.
The box serial number.
The box version number.
(Whilst you're there get the OS and EPG version numbers also.)
The card serial number.

Any other questions should be met with "I don't know, I'm at work and
I'm not losing more of my money by ringing you from home: just switch
the thing on now and stop wasting my time or you can cancel the lot.
Pass me a supervisor."
