Steve, the direction depends entirely on where you live - the safest bet
would be Virgin or HMV - either one should be nearby... And the cost: from
2.99 per DVD upwards...

I use a Hauppauge PVR 250 - acts as a PVR, but also records in MPEG2
that can then be burned straight to DVD. I think Happauge to a USB version.

Direct extraction is not possible. You need a video capture device and
I have yet to see one that does a good job for a reasonable sum.

A set-top DVD recorder would be a better bet.

I just acquired a nifty device called WinTV USB made by Hauppauge!.
Recognizes NTSC and PAL (among others), requires no external power, has
coax(RF) and S-Video input ports.

It has an internal 125 channel tuner (Cable and OTA), and allows pre-view of
up to 16 channels at a time. Allows snap image capture from the video feed.

One thing I haven't figured out is why I'm only receiving Mono audio (Using
RF). Still playing, and haven't tried S-Video yet. (Need a longer cable
than what I have right now).

Because your Sky+ doesn't have a NICAM *EN*coder. Nor does your VCR, DVD
player or any other consumer device with an RF output.

And this capture device (AFAIK in common with all such capture
devices) presumably can't capture RGB either.

All in all I far prefer the dedicated hardware set-top box solution.
