Sky Plus Series button
I understand through the series button you can record all the episodes in
that series what happens if you do this , and the same episode is on 3 times a day as in the case of The Bill on UK Gold , do you get the same episode 3 times or will it just record 1 which of course is enough |
Series link doesn't work on UK Gold.

The actual ability of the series link to select which episode to "link" too is down to how it is programmed by the broadcaster, if they get it wrong then SKY+ just records what it is told. If the same episode of a series is on 3 times a day and if you select one of the recordings any series link should point to the next episode in the series and select the same time period if there is more then one timeslot used. What would happen in the following situation on a Sky+? (Assume programme C is on at 09:00 Monday-Friday, and each episode is repeated at 13:00; series links are supported for this programme). 1. Set up a recording for programme A on channel 101 on Tuesday 09:00. 2. Set up a recording for programme B on channel 102 on Tuesday 09:00. 3. Set up a recording for programme C on channel 103 on Monday 09:00, and enable series links. Now, since the next showing of C is on at the same time as 2 recordings that have already been scheduled (and assuming we don't cancel the recordings for A or B), what happens? 1. When setting up C, will you get a warning message saying something like "Tuesday's episode of C will not be recorded because 2 recordings are already scheduled"? 2. Will Sky+ record Tuesday's 13:00 episode of C instead of the 09:00 one? 3. Will Wednesday's, Thursday's and Friday's episode of C be recorded? Geoff |

Geoff Now this question is best asked to the coders who wrote the SKY+ OS and judging from the bug reports even they wouldn't know:( Now Program A is added to the planner and then Program B is added to the planner. Program C is added to the Planner and series linked but at that time the series link has not been activated so SKY+ does not know of the potential class the next day. Now priority for recording before the DR update would have been down to the program which had the KEEP flag set, however now we have DR I have absolutely no idea how these variables interact with eachother. As you may be aware there are threads in the newsgroups and Digital Spy forums about failed/truncated recordings which seem to be a symptom of the DR code and it's interaction with the two tuners coupled with live viewing etc. If I had to make a guess then I would say the series linked program would be cancelled and priority given to the direct planner entries and subsequent recordings based on the Program C series links would be broken. Just done a quick test and SKY+ allows you to set up two programs and then add a third with a series link that will clash when activated but that doesn't answer your original question:( Mike C |
